About Joel: While at CCM he played in all of the major ensembles, including the prestigious wind Symphony and Philharmonia Orchestra and won the Vrevard Music Center Concerto Competition and the MENC / Marine Corps Young Artist Competition.  After CCM, Joel took a position with the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps from Wilmington, Delaware, as a Contrabass Bugle Technician.  Prior to his appointment at Mountain Gap Middle School, Joe was a co-director at Dupont-Tyler Middle School and the McGavock High School in Nashville, TN.  Additionally, Joel has served on the faculty of Middle Tennessee State University, University of North Alabama, University of Alabama in Huntsville and Austin Peay State university as adjunct instructor of tuba.  Joel is very active as a chamber musician and private teacher.
In addition to his music activities, Joel is an avid boater and motorcyclist.
